Resignation and Appointment of a Director

The Board of M&G High Income Investment Trust P.L.C. (M&G HIT) announces that
Vivian Bazalgette has today resigned from the Board following his retirement
from M&G. The Board is grateful to Vivian Bazalgette for his contribution during
his period of office.

The Board is pleased to announce that it has today appointed David Jane as a
director of the Company with immediate effect. As Head of Equity Investment at M
&G Investment Management Limited (the "Manager"), David Jane has overall
responsibility for the Manager's investment process. In accordance with the
Articles of Association, David Jane will hold office until next year's annual
general meeting at which time he will be eligible for election by shareholders.
