MEM INVESTS IN MAXIMUM ENTERTAINMENT
ACQUISITION OF RIGHTS TO FOX KIDS LIBRARY
Medal Entertainment & Media plc ("MEM") has invested in a new DVD publishing

has taken an initial 30% stake in Maximum Entertainment Limited ("Maximum") with
an exclusive option to raise its stake to 50.1% any time in the next three
years. Colin Lomax will become Managing Director of Maximum and Michael Kuhn
becomes Chairman of Maximum. Colin has held senior positions at VCI and
Polygram Filmed Entertainment and Michael Kuhn is the founder of Qwerty Films
and was formerly president of Polygram Filmed Entertainment. MEM Chief
Executive Steve Ayres will also join the board of Maximum as a non-executive
director.
Maximum has already secured exclusive UK rights to distribute over 1,200 hours
of the most successful children's titles from the Fox Kids library on Video and
DVD. Included is cult animation from Marvel such as 'Captain America' and 'Iron
Man', as well exclusive rights to distribute a combination of children's classic
characters and cult franchises from the Saban animation studio. Products

the Menace', 'Saban's Adventures of the Little Mermaid', 'Super Mario Bros', '
Inspector Gadget', 'Care Bears' and 'Action Man'. The titles will be supported
with television advertising on the Fox Kids TV channel in the UK. There will
also be extensive cross promotion with other Fox Kids licensees.
Steve Ayres, Chief Executive of MEM, commented: "In line with our stated
strategy, Maximum Entertainment will provide an opportunity for MEM to publish
entertainment programming on DVD to supplement itsexisting specialist and
factual publishing activity. We expect the Fox Kids product to be an exciting
way for Maximum to start in business, particularly as the children's
entertainment market has been under-served in terms of DVD."
Colin Lomax, Managing Director of Maximum added: "I am delighted to have MEM as
one of the key backers for this new label and Steve Ayres, together with Michael
Kuhn, bring many years of experience and contacts with them which will help
Maximum develop its productportfolio. Our extensive licensing deal with Fox
Kids represents a fantastic opportunity for us to exploit the rapidly growing
DVD market and the huge potential within the children's sector."
