                       Appointment of Finance Director                       

Arthur Shaw announces that Tim Curle ACA has been appointed Finance Director
with immediate effect.  Mr Curle, (aged 45) qualified as a Chartered
Accountant with Price Waterhouse & Co in 1979 in the Birmingham office before
winning a place on Price Waterhouse International's overseas development
programme, spending two years in Miami and three years in Toronto.  

He left Price Waterhouse to join a client company, Geac Computer Corporation
Limited ("Geac") as corporate controller, having previously acted as lead
manager on the Price Waterhouse team at the time of Geac's IPO and listing on
the Toronto Stock Exchange.  After two years he transferred to London as
director of finance of Geac's European Operations.

At the beginning of 1993, Mr Curle joined Sotheby's as European financial
controller based in London, and was promoted to the position of European
finance director in 1995.   His other responsibilities latterly included the
management of the Sotheby's information technology department for Europe,
during which time the Sotheby's e-commerce site was launched.  He remained
with Sotheby's until October 2000, resigning to join Arthur Shaw.

d)        Mr Curle has not been a director of any company at the time of, or  
          within twelve months preceding the date of, its receivership,       
          compulsory liquidation, creditors' voluntary liquidation,           
          administration, company voluntary arrangement or any composition or 
          arrangement with its creditors generally, or any class of its       
          creditors. Mr Curle has not been a partner of any partnership at the
          time of, or within twelve months preceding the date of, its         
          compulsory liquidation, administration or partnership voluntary     
          arrangement, or the receivership of any assets of such partnership, 
          nor have any of his assets been the subject of receivership.
                     
e)        Mr Curle has not been criticised by any statutory or regulatory     
          authority, or been disqualified by a court from acting as a director
          of a company or from acting in the management of the affairs of any 
          company.
