TRADING UPDATE AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT

Following the initial review of the interim results, which have not been
reviewed by the auditors, the Company's directors would like to advise
shareholders that Simmers' headline earnings for the six-month period ended 30
September 2004 are expected to be more than 20%lower, when compared to that of
the prior comparative period.

The reasons for the decrease in earnings are due to increased costs compounded
by the lower Rand gold price due to the strength of the Rand.

The Simmers board is presently finalising their review of the Company's results
for the six months to 30 September 2004. Shareholders are accordingly advised
to exercise caution when dealing in the Company's securities until the interim
results are published on or about 24 November 2004.
