                         RECOMMENDED CASH ACQUISITION

Transaction update

Further to the announcement released earlier today ("Transaction Announcement"),
UBS Global Asset Management (UK) Ltd has confirmed that it is permitted to vote
20,250,644 of the 26,827,462 Christian Salvesen Shares it manages on behalf of
its clients.  Therefore, Hawkpoint and GND have now received irrevocable
undertakings, to vote in favour of the Transaction at the Court Meeting and the
General Meeting, from the Christian Salvesen Directors who hold Christian
Salvesen Shares, certain members of the Salvesen family and other shareholders
together representing approximately 30.1 per cent. of the entire existing issued
share capital of Christian Salvesen.

Terms defined in the Transaction Announcement have the same meaning in this
announcement.
