16 Aprile 2012 - 3:00PM
Comverge, Inc. (Nasdaq:COMV), the leading provider of Intelligent
Energy Management solutions for Residential and Commercial &
Industrial (C&I) customers, today announced that it was
selected by UT Southwestern Medical Center to support its
successful participation in the Electricity Reliability Council of
Texas (ERCOT) Demand Response program. By leveraging Comverge's
demand response expertise, the leading academic medical center,
which is part of the University of Texas System, was able to
successfully curtail its energy consumption by 9 MW during the 2011
demand response season.
"We have a number of sustainability initiatives underway that
range from energy and water management to sustainable
transportation practices and recycling," said Clint Thomas, Energy
Manager, UT Southwestern Medical Center. "Working with Comverge
enabled us to participate in a demand response program that has
generated incremental revenue and supported our overall
sustainability goals. We have been impressed by the Comverge team
and how we have been able to participate in the program and curtail
energy consumption without impacting our business."
Founded in 1943, UT Southwestern has a proud and distinguished
record of breakthrough scientific discoveries, outstanding medical
education and training, and excellence in patient care. The medical
center is also committed to sustainable practices, with a number of
initiatives in progress. Working closely with Comverge engineers to
design a demand response system that would reduce load without
impacting its different facilities, UT Southwestern was able to
successfully participate in the ERCOT program and curtail its
energy consumption by 9 MW. Based on the success of the program, UT
Southwestern has partnered with Comverge for the 2012 demand
response season and has also made the Comverge offering available
to other members of the University of Texas System.
"UT Southwestern is one of the leading academic medical centers
in the country with a very impressive record in education, research
and patient care as well as a strong commitment to sustainability,"
said George Hunt, senior vice president, C&I sales, Comverge.
"We have worked together closely over the last 10 months to develop
a demand response program that would complement their existing
sustainability efforts, while also providing an incremental source
of revenue. The result has been a very successful program from both
a business and sustainability standpoint."
