SHENZHEN, China, May 18 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China
Information Security Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPBY) ("China
Information Security," "CIST," or the "Company"), specialized in
Geographic Information Systems ("GIS"), digital public security and
hospital information systems, and a leading GIS software provider
in China, today announced that its
police-use geographic information systems ("PGIS") platform is
being utilized by the Shanghai Public Security Bureau for the
management of public security at the Shanghai World Expo.
On May 10, 2010, the 41st World
Expo opened in Shanghai. This is
an international and historical event which is expected to host
over 70 million visitors from all over the world. CIST's
sophisticated PGIS platform being used for the World Expo was
constructed based on China's
national PGIS standard, with software modified to include
specialized applications and data specifically for the event. The
PGIS platform being used at the command center allows for the
real-time location of police cars, soldiers, escort vehicles,
helicopters and patrol boats. It also includes a positioning system
that provides prompt and accurate information for emergency
response.
Mr. Jiang Huai Lin, Chairman and
CEO of the Company, commented, "We believe that our selection by
the Shanghai World Expo to play such a critical part in its
security management is a ringing endorsement and recognition of our
proven PGIS technology. We expect to continue to expand our PGIS
platform's functionality to ensure the highest safety possible for
the event. We expect that our win of the project contract for this
internationally recognized high-profile event will better position
us to further expand into Eastern
China through new and follow-on projects, and will further
improve our brand name and industry reputation nationwide."
