The Corporate Executive Board (CEB) (NASDAQ: EXBD), a leading
research and advisory services company, today announced the success
of its first, invitation-only receptions in Hong Kong and Singapore
for CEOs of the largest Western multinational companies operating
in Asia Pacific.
Drawing on CEB’s breadth of research and peer-based insight into
the demands placed on divisional CEOs from headquarters, the
half-day sessions featured new findings on effective sales
strategies that go beyond solution selling to drive customer
acquisition and growth in Asia Pac. Attendees also engaged in
discussion around hiring and retaining talent given increasing
competition and the emergence of Chinese domestic employers as
“preferred” places to work. CEB executives presented new strategies
to address this emerging challenge effectively.
“Ninety-three percent of CEOs in attendance reported an
intention to take action based on the day’s discussion,
illustrating the critical need for tangible, results-proven
insights into today’s most pressing business challenges,” said
Melissa Bailey, managing director of Asia Pacific at the Corporate
Executive Board. “We look forward to partnering with the region’s
leading executives to identify and apply the right combination of
APAC-specific insight, analysis and proven best practices required
to advance strategic initiatives successfully.”
The CEO-only event also featured an interactive discussion
regarding a recent study on employee engagement featured in the May
issue of the Harvard Business Review. The findings show engagement
levels among top talent and high-potential employees are critically
low, with one-quarter of these employees intending to leave their
company within the year. While investing in high-achieving
employees can have a tremendous impact on business results, it is
clear that many talent management programs are falling short.
Despite the fact that one in three job candidates in Asia view
“future career opportunity” as the most important attribute of a
new employer, a number of programmes are either misidentifying key
talent or failing to properly challenge and reward critical
employees. The analysis suggests the pending talent exodus could
have a long-term impact on company performance and leadership
succession in APAC and around the world.
CEB has a long history of service to the region, with
relationships dating back to 1999. It now serves more than 100
organizations and executives in South East Asia and Greater China.
In recent years, CEB has assisted its members in areas that include
developing a compelling employment brand, boosting sales force
productivity, aligning IT with corporate strategy, and improving
the customer experience. The company opened a regional office in
Singapore in March complementing its regional presence in Sydney
and New Delhi.
