NOVATO, Calif., March 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/
-- Hennessy Funds today announced that the Hennessy Gas
Utility Index Fund (GASFX) and Hennessy Japan Fund (HJPIX) have
each been named a 2013 Lipper Fund Award winner. Lipper Fund Awards
honor mutual funds that have excelled in delivering consistently
stronger performance than their peers. The Hennessy Gas Utility
Index Fund was recognized for both the best three-year and
five-year risk adjusted performance among 16 Utility Funds, while
the Hennessy Japan Fund was recognized for the best three-year
performance among 10 Japanese Funds, for the period ended
11/30/12.
"These Lipper awards are a testament to the quality of our
investment management team and reflects our disciplined, consistent
and repeatable money management approach," said Neil Hennessy, President and Chief Investment
Officer of Hennessy Funds. "We are very pleased to be recognized
for our focus on long-term investing and for our attention to
downside risk," he noted.
The Hennessy Gas Utility Index Fund utilizes the American Gas
Association Index, providing investors with the opportunity to
capitalize on distribution companies that supply the growing demand
for natural gas. The Hennessy Japan Fund is actively managed
and sub-advised by SPARX Asset Management Co. Ltd., located in
Tokyo, Japan. The Fund is
invested primarily in global, export-oriented companies
headquartered in Japan and has the
potential to capitalize on a weaker yen.

Mutual fund investing involves risk. Principal loss is
possible. Small and medium-capitalization companies tend to have
limited liquidity and greater price volatility than
large-capitalization companies. Investments in foreign
securities involve greater volatility and political, economic and
currency risk and differences in accounting methods. A
non-diversified fund, one that may concentrate its assets in fewer
holdings than a diversified fund, is more exposed to individual
stock volatility than a diversified fund. Investments focused in
the natural gas distribution and transmission industry may be
adversely affected by rising interest rates, weather, and the
wholesale pricing of alternative fuels.
The American Gas Association (AGA) Stock Index is a market
capitalization weighted index, adjusted monthly, consisting of
member companies of the AGA. One cannot invest directly in an
index.
A Lipper Fund Award is awarded to one fund in each Lipper
classification for achieving the strongest trend of consistent
risk-adjusted performance against its classification peers over a
three, five or ten-year period. Although Lipper makes reasonable
efforts to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data
contained herein, the accuracy is not guaranteed by Lipper. Lipper
