The SCO Group, Inc. (SCO) (NASDAQ:SCOX), a leading provider of UNIX software technology and mobile services, and Genisys Software, Inc., a leading provider of rental and point of sale software for the specialty equipment rental market, today announced the immediate availability of mobile workforce automation solutions for companies that rent equipment to the construction, homeowner, party and special events industries. The solution was developed by the SCO Mobile product team as a modular mobile enhancement that is completely integrated with Genisys existing AlphaRENTAL Solution. The AlphaRENTAL solution is a traditional client/server application used by retail equipment outlet centers to manage all aspects of their business, including customer relationships, sales, reservations, quotes, invoicing, receivables, parts, service and rental equipment inventory management. Genisys engaged SCO Professional Services to develop a mobile solution using the SCO Mobile Server to improve the productivity of an equipment rental outlets field work force. The resulting application now allows customer and rental inventory information to be available to the field workforce via a Windows Mobile phone. Rental outlets that have deployed the mobile solution have experienced reductions in the average number of days rental equipment is held in inventory between rentals: from an average of 7 days to less than 2 days. Customer close rates are dramatically improved at the point of interaction and inventory turns on the back-end are increased through real-time mobile access to customer and inventory data. We looked at adding a mobile extension to the application so that our customers could do real-time tracking of their business anytime, anywhere. We quickly encountered very complex technical issues that were beyond the scope of our expertise, said Ray Bonestroo, president of Genisys. We selected the SCO Mobile Product Team to design, develop and deploy the mobile solution because they are an experienced leader in delivering innovative, high-quality technology and solutions. Developing and deploying mobile solutions that can access back-end corporate data while preserving the security and the privacy of the data, and also run on multiple handsets is a complex and challenging undertaking, said Sandy Gupta, chief technology officer for The SCO Group. SCO has the proven system level expertise to meet these demanding mobile application requirements. SCOs end-to-end approach ensures that the mobile solution will be up and running with little or no disruption of our customers existing operations. Additionally, businesses will quickly realize the competitive advantage of using SCO Mobile Server technology to conduct business anytime, anywhere, even when network connections are unavailable. For more information on the solutions and services offered by The SCO Mobile product group, go to www.scomobile.com or call 1-800-726-6561 About The SCO Group The SCO Group (NASDAQ:SCOX) is a leading provider of UNIX software technology and mobile services.
