(NASDAQ: SPSX) today announced that its French subsidiary, Essex SAS, has initiated discussions with the appropriate employee representative bodies for the potential closure of its magnet wire manufacturing facility in Chauny, France. The Chauny facility currently has approximately 130 employees. The Company previously announced in January 2008 the consolidation and restructuring of its North American Magnet Wire configuration, which is part of a continuing initiative to develop the most cost-efficient worldwide manufacturing network to serve its global customer requirements. This action involved the phased closure of its Vincennes, Indiana facility in conjunction with the expansion of its Franklin, Tennessee and Torreon, Mexico facilities.
