Emergency Medical Services Corporation (NYSE: EMS) (the "Company") today announced that its American Medical Response, Inc. ("AMR") subsidiary has entered into an agreement as a national preferred provider for non-emergency medical transportation services and non-emergency medical transportation management services with two subsidiaries of Manor Care, Inc. (NYSE: HCR), Manor Care Health Services, Inc. and Health Care & Retirement Corporation of America (collectively, "Manor Care"). Manor Care is a leading provider of short-term post-acute and long-term care. The agreement has a three-year term with AMR scheduled to begin services August 1, 2006. Under the agreement, AMR will provide services to 156 Manor Care nursing homes and assisted-living facilities in 18 states. The relationship is expected to generate approximately $6 million in new annual net revenue and positive margins consistent with the Company's other non-emergency transportation services. EMSC Chairman and CEO William A. Sanger said: "We're very pleased with the expansion of our relationship with Manor Care. This three-year agreement is another example of the Company implementing its strategy to leverage organic growth opportunities using the significant scale and scope of both our technology, including AMR's proprietary Millennium managed transportation software, and our record of quality service. "Over time, we hope to expand the geographic scope of services furnished to Manor Care facilities," Sanger concluded. According to Greg Lawton, East Region Vice President of Business Development at AMR: "Our proprietary Millennium managed transportation software was designed with input from case managers and discharge planners, who need the ability to quickly and easily order medically appropriate ambulance transportation for their patients. Millennium's powerful rules-based software helps assure that AMR provides its clients the right level of care and transportation, at the right time, for each patient."
