Emergency Medical Services Corporation's (NYSE:EMS) American Medical Response (AMR) subsidiary announced today that the Joint Radio User Group (JRUG), a collection of 13 San Joaquin County (CA) fire districts, has transferred all its emergency medical and fire dispatching services to AMR's new LifeCom communications facility in Salida, Calif. The LifeCom facility is one of only two privately operated emergency EMS and Fire dispatching centers operated in Northern California, the second being AMR's RedCom Center in Sonoma County, Calif. "AMR is pleased that JRUG has chosen LifeCom to provide all of their dispatching needs and we look forward to working with our EMS partners long into the future," said Brad White, AMR Regional Vice President of Operations. The facility now provides dispatch services for 21 agencies, including AMR, JRUG and seven other private ambulance providers throughout San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. Managing thousands of emergency calls each month, LifeCom is considered by many in the emergency medical services industry as one of the most advanced emergency dispatch centers in California. The center has 40 employees, each of whom is accredited in emergency medical and fire dispatch. The LifeCom facility is accredited by the National Academies of Emergency Medical Dispatch, the industry's "gold standard" for dispatch services. "We have been looking forward to this day since AMR took over dispatching services for San Joaquin County," said Woodbridge Fire Chief Michael Kirkle. "With LifeCom, we get simultaneous dispatching and access to the most highly trained dispatchers and technical personnel in the industry, resulting in faster response times for the citizens we serve," Kirkle concluded.
