American Medical Response Inc. (AMR), a subsidiary of Emergency Medical Services Corporation (NYSE: EMS), has received an International Stevie® Award for its “Home for the Holidays” program. The program was named Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year in North America. The award is AMR’s third Stevie Award in two years.

“Home for the Holidays” is a program offered by many AMR operations across the nation. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday seasons, AMR provides residents of skilled nursing facilities with free medical transportation home to be with their families and loved ones.

The award was presented by the 2009 International Business Awards (IBA), a global business awards program that honors great performance in business. Nicknamed the Stevie for the Greek word “crowned,” the awards were presented at a banquet on Monday, September 14 in New York City.

Award recipients were selected from more than 1,700 entries received from organizations and individuals in more than 30 countries. Organizations from around the world are eligible to compete in the program. Companies can enter in any of more than 40 categories. Members of the awards' Board of Distinguished Judges and Advisors and their staffs selected International Stevie winners from among the finalists, which were determined by volunteer judges around the world during two months of preliminary judging.
