Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation (NYSE:ETN) today announced the release of EZ Intelligent Relays, a versatile line of relay devices that provides users with greater functionality than traditional hard-wired relays, timers, and pushbuttons. Eaton's new EZ Intelligent Relay devices incorporate extended timing features, multiple counters, and network communications capability in an easy-to-use interface. The broad line of EZ devices available can support the full range of customer applications, from smaller implementations consisting of hard-wired relays or timers to very large-scale applications with several hundred I/0 points with local and remote expansion modules and graphic visualization. Available worldwide through the Eaton distribution channel, the EZ500, EZ700, EZ800, and EZD Intelligent Relay products provide basic functions that users could only implement previously with individually installed and wired devices. Eaton's EZ700, EZ800, or EZD Intelligent Relays can also address large-scale applications via flexible networking, local and remote expansion modules, and powerful visualization functions from either a text or full graphical display. "With a broad range of intelligent relay devices, users can always find the best solution for their needs," said Rich Stinson, vice president and general manager of Eaton's Industrial Control Division. "Despite the multitude of automation functions, these products are extremely easy to use for all types of users, thanks to a user-friendly interface and straightforward operation and programming." Simplicity and User-Friendly Operation As the name suggests, the EZ and EZD intelligent relays provide user-friendly operation and programming. Users save time and money when using the EZ devices, which reduces wiring and labor costs, and the EZ devices' smaller sizes reduce panel size and cost. Integrated Design Packs Multiple Features Depending on the device selected, EZ and EZD products provide users with multiple function timing relays, flash relays, counters, comparators, operating hour timers, day of week and yearly timing functions, as well as other ready-to-use functions. The circuit diagram is easily programmed from the front panel of the EZ device or by using an optional software package. Every EZ and EZD Intelligent Relay features an integrated power flow display to ensure safe operation during commissioning and helps identify errors in the circuit diagram. Security Means Safety The finished circuit diagram is stored internally and can also be saved externally on a memory module (EEPROM) for transport, security, and back-up. Multi-level password protection secures a circuit diagram from unauthorized viewing, editing, copying, or deleting. Simple and Inexpensive Networking Communication between up to eight stations at a distance of 1,000 meters can be easily accomplished by integrating the EZ-NET network. It does not matter if the devices involved are running their own programs or are only used as remote input/output modules. Furthermore, all devices can be expanded locally using the EZ-LINK interface. This enables EZ and EZD devices to be used seamlessly with applications requiring from 18 to more than 300 I/O points. EZD users can also opt for simple point-to-point networking to another EZ relay with a serial interface. Communication modules are available that allow EZ and EZD Intelligent Relays to be connected to AS-Interface, PROFIBUS-DP, CANopen, and DeviceNet networking systems. Availability EZ Intelligent Relay is now available through the worldwide Eaton distribution channel or by contacting your local Eaton Sales Office.
