Amazon.com Inc. on Tuesday expanded its restaurant delivery business to include more than 350 local restaurants in New York City, introducing the service to the nation's largest city.

The move brings Amazon Restaurants to Manhattan, though not the outer boroughs in New York. Participating restaurants are in neighborhoods such as Chelsea, Harlem and the Financial District. Orders should be delivered in one hour or less, Amazon said.

The service is free with an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $99 a year. The company said it wouldn't mark up prices higher than prices shown on a restaurant's current online menu.

The move could put pressure on restaurant delivery providers such as GrubHub Inc., which already has services in New York.

Amazon customers can order from restaurants using the company's Prime Now mobile app or by visiting the Prime Now website, where customers can view participating restaurants, browse menus, place orders and watch as their delivery travels in real time. Through Amazon's Prime Now portals, customers in select cities can also place delivery orders for items such as groceries, electronics and health and beauty products.

Separately on Tuesday, Amazon rolled out the service in Dallas. Amazon Restaurants was already available in cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland.

Amazon has put an emphasis in recent years on quick-delivery services. In late 2014 the company first unveiled Prime Now, which started in just one ZIP Code in Manhattan.
