Lion Electric Co. said Wednesday that it has signed a nonbinding agreement with U.S. Energy Department to explore the development and integration of electric-vehicle-charging infrastructure into the country's energy grid.

The Canadian manufacturer of all-electric commercial vehicles said that under the terms of the memorandum of understanding, it will collaborate with a number of other industry leaders including utilities, original equipment manufacturers, government agencies and labor organizations.

The company said it will also focus on cybersecurity around vehicle-to-everything technologies, a communication system between vehicles and other moving parts of the traffic system.
