NY-based AOL today opened for trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “AOL” after its spin-off from Time Warner Inc.

AOL is formerly a division of Time Warner Inc., which is listed on the NYSE under the symbol “TWX”.

“We welcome AOL in joining the NYSE’s network of leading technology-based companies,” said Scott R. Cutler, NYSE Euronext EVP and Head of Listings, Americas. “AOL is a global leader in web services and online content and we look forward to a strong and lasting partnership.”

“AOL is proud to be trading on the most prestigious Exchange in the world and we hope to follow the many successful companies before us who have opened on the NYSE,” said Tim Armstrong, AOL’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “As an independent company with a recognized global Internet brand, we will be competing for the future of content, communications and advertising and that is a very exciting and significant opportunity.”

To celebrate this special occasion, Mr. Armstrong today opened the NYSE market and rang the opening bell, joined by the company’s employees. To discuss AOL’s spin-off from Time Warner and the first day of trading on the NYSE as an independent company, Mr. Armstrong will be available for a conference call with the media from the NYSE.
