NYSE Euronext and the Yale Chief Executive Leadership Institute today hosted the inaugural Green Summit at the New York Stock Exchange in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. The event featured leaders from the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, and the corporate and academic sectors who explored ways to attain environmental sustainability while growing business and the economy through green business. Additionally, several NYSE-listed companies participated in the Green Summit and showcased their “green” technologies inside and outside the New York Stock Exchange:

In celebration of Earth Day’s 40th anniversary, co-sponsors of the Green Summit rang The Opening Bell; the Closing Bell was rung by Matt Petersen, President and CEO of Global Green USA, the American affiliate of President Gorbachev's, Green Cross international joined by actor Anthony Mackie, who recently starred in the Oscar-winning movie, The Hurt Locker and arctic explorer and photographer Sebastian Copeland.

The NYSE and Yale Green Summit offered an opportunity for NYSE-listed issuers and others to come together to garner unique insights and further their “green” initiatives.
