Panasonic, the leading brand of cordless home telephones
worldwide,* today announced the introduction of a new cordless
telephone with three exclusive features making it easier and more
comfortable for use by people with hearing loss, low vision and
arthritis. Affirming its capabilities, the new telephone, Model
KX-TG6591T, has received the Ease-of-Use commendation from the
Arthritis Foundation. The three exclusive features -- Tone
Equalizer, Talking Caller ID and Any Key Answer -- provide
telephone users with the ability to hear conversations more clearly
and operate the phone with minimal button pushing.
"Panasonic is committed to designing accessible products that
advance the principles of universal design -- attractive,
unobtrusive and easy to use for people of a variety of ages and
ability levels," said Bill Taylor, President of Panasonic System
Networks Company of America. "As we age, many people want a phone
that meets our changing needs but do not want to sacrifice design
and functionality."
"Aside from being a stressful and frustrating effect of hearing
loss, difficulty hearing on the telephone can negatively impact
one's quality of life," said Natalye Faison, Au.D, Audiologist,
Panasonic Healthcare Group, which develops and manufactures
innovative digital hearing instruments. "Many people with hearing
loss find it especially difficult to hear certain sounds because
their hearing loss may affect only a specific range of pitches,
Panasonic's new phones offer the flexibility to control the bass,
mid-range or treble tones in a caller's voice for maximum
clarity."
With the exclusive Tone Equalizer feature, included on all 2011
Panasonic cordless phones, individuals with mild to moderate
hearing loss can easily use a toggle switch on the handset to boost
the frequencies they hear best in callers' voices -- treble,
mid-range or bass -- making it easier to understand the
conversation.
Easier Operation The telephone also offers
features to improve usability for people with low vision and
arthritis, including:
- Talking Caller ID - announces Caller ID information between
rings using text-to-speech technology so there is no need to pick
up or look at the handset to know who is calling
- Any-key Answer - press any handset key to pick up a call
- Non-slip Handset - exclusive to Panasonic, the rubberized grip
helps prevent slipping and the handset is shaped to be easy to hold
or to cradle
- Large, rubberized backlit buttons
- Easy-to-read white backlit LCD display
- Hands-free speakerphone on handset and base unit
The KX-TG6591T includes these exclusive features that are found
on all 2011 Panasonic single-line cordless telephones:
- Proprietary DECT 6.0 Plus® technology for high quality sound
and extended range
- Intelligent Eco Mode - Automatically lowers the power
consumption when using the handset close to the base unit
- Call Block - Program unwanted callers' numbers into a blocked
list
- Silent Mode - Program any handset, such as a bedside phone, not
to ring during specified hours
The KX-TG6591T cordless phone is now available in stores
nationwide for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $59.95, which
includes one handset. A two-handset model, KX-TG6592T, is also
available (SRP: $79.95). Both models are expandable up to six
handsets. Additional handsets can be purchased for $19.95 each. For
