Panasonic System Networks Company of America today announced receipt of Cerner Peripheral Medical Device Certification for its high-speed, high-volume KV-S5055C A3-compatible color scanner.

The Cerner Certification Program is structured to ensure relevant data from healthcare devices, bedside devices, smart beds, laboratory or imaging devices, nurse call systems or consumer devices, is captured and seamlessly delivered to the electronic medical record. The company is a trusted provider for solutions, technology and hardware and now resells medical devices for select certification partners.

"Cerner is a gold-standard innovator in conceiving, developing and delivering 21st century healthcare management solutions to doctors, hospitals, governmental health agencies and pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers around the world," said Bill Taylor, President of Panasonic System Networks Company of America. "Meeting Cerner's rigorous certification standards is a challenge for any office machine and having the KV-S5055C certified and available from Cerner SolutionWorks is a big win for Panasonic. It's an even bigger win for health care providers seeking a high-volume, high efficiency scanner that can digitize everything from patient records, to ID cards, to ultra-long EKG scrolls without any hassles or hiccups."

The KV-S5055C's superior performance and function set makes it an ideal tool for streamlining medical office workflow, maximizing productivity, and increasing staff efficiency.

"Optimizing high volume, batch-scanning productivity in the healthcare environment is as dependent on non-stop running time as much as it is about raw speed," Taylor added. "Our ToughFeed technology, which provides automatic mixed-batch scanning of documents ranging in size and thickness from heavy stock patient charts, to thin prescription forms, to plastic ID cards, dramatically reduces job stoppages. Additionally, the KV-S5055C's ability to automatically scan both sides of items, like ID cards, and save them as one single-sided document helps to save time and increase efficiency."

Featuring best-in-class 90-ppm/180ipm(1) speed, a 200-sheet automatic document feeder, dual paper-dust reduction systems, and Panasonic's proprietary ToughFeed mixed-document paper transport technology, the KV-S5055C has already become a scanner of choice in high-volume medical, insurance, governmental, financial services and transportation document centers.
