The Timken Company (NYSE:TKR) announced that James Callan was recently promoted to general manager � aerospace and defense. In his new position, Callan is responsible for sales, marketing, engineering and customer service for Timken's business focused on producing aerospace and defense components for original equipment manufacturers. The business is based in Lebanon, N.H. Callan, 39, reports to Ron Menning, vice president � aerospace, consumer and super precision. Timken's products are found in aircraft engines, gearboxes, helicopter transmissions, auxiliary power units, landing wheels, airframes and instrumentation. The aerospace industry, including the aftermarket segment, which Timken serves from facilities in Arizona and California, is an increasing area of focus for Timken�s future growth. "James brings a strong and varied management background to this strategic Timken business," Menning said. "Robust demand from both commercial and defense sectors continues to drive Timken's expansion of products and services in the original equipment segment, where we are making significant investments in technology and capacity to support our global customer base. We anticipate that James will provide forceful leadership in our continuing drive to deliver enhanced market value and achieve rapid growth.� Callan replaces Leong Fang, who recently accepted the position of vice president � sales and marketing in China. During nearly 17 years with the company, Callan has had a broad range of experience. Most recently, he served as manager of global marketing, business planning and international sales for the rail business. He has held various roles of increasing responsibility within sales, marketing, product management and general management, including international assignments in Singapore and Mexico. A native of Chicago, Callan joined Timken in 1990 as a sales representative in Canton. Callan received a bachelor�s degree in marketing and management from Northwood University and a master�s degree in international business from the University of Dallas. He also completed Timken's Executive Development for Global Excellence (EDGE) Program at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. Callan and his wife, Tanya, are relocating to the Lebanon area.
