Intense activity in this sector was reflected by a net addition of 340,000 new users in 1Q04, compared with 112,000 in 1Q03. The base of post-paid TCO customers grew 10.9%, and the pre- paid customer base grew 50.9%, from 1Q03. * Net profit of R$ 99.6 million in 1Q04, 8.0% higher than net profit from 1Q03. EBITDA grew 19.7% in the quarter, representing an EBITDA margin of 42.0%, an increase of 2.7% over 1Q03, despite increased business activity. * Operating cash flows of R$ 152.3 million in 1Q04, an increase of 16.1% over 1Q03, demonstrate that the Company possesses sufficient operational cash flow generation to sustain its investments. * Revenues from data services are growing strongly, increasing 123.7%, over 1Q03, and representing 4.1% of net income from services in 1Q04 (2.0% in 1Q03). * Productivity growth in 1Q04 of 51.8% and 11.2% over 1Q03 and 4Q03, respectively.
