announced today with Tapped Mobile, Corby Spirit and Wine will be
the first Canadian company to launch Shazam's visual recognition
technology in-market, and will be its official wine and spirits
partner in Canada.
Actively used by over 22% of Canadians, Shazam is one of the
world's most popular mobile apps, used by more than 100 million
people each month to connect to the world around them. Shazam
pioneered audio recognition technology that helps people identify
music, and has grown into a service that connects people with
artists, TV shows, ads, cinema, radio and retail environments.
Shazam's visual recognition technology, launched across the country
six weeks ago by its Canadian partner Tapped Mobile, builds on that
technology with a scanning tool that enables consumers to interact
with brands.
Consumers can already see this partnership in action on bottles
of ABSOLUT vodka in select markets across Canada. Using the Shazam app, consumers can
scan the bottle's neck-tag to unlock over 1000 different cocktail
recipes. These neck-tags have been printed with a watermark that is
recognized by the app – but is invisible to the naked eye.

Shazam's visual recognition technology opens the door to a world
where everything from posters, to packaged goods,

version of Shazam installed on their mobile phones can simply
open the app and tap the new camera icon to start the visual
experience. Whenever they wave their phone over any item with the
Shazam camera logo on it, they'll instantly get taken to custom
mobile experiences including interactive content, special offers,
and ability to share items with others.
