Sporting dimensions it shares with a credit card and a width of
less than an inch, the Reporter 100 is arguably the little guy on
the GPS block. But for Wireless Matrix (TSX: WRX), which began
deploying the unit to customers in June, the Reporter 100 is the
latest innovation in the company's continuing growth as a
world-class provider of fleet management solutions.
Measuring 3.825" x 2.35" x 0.7" and weighing in at 3 ounces, the
Reporter 100 combines a variety of features that make it ideal for
fleet location activities. Its size means it can be mounted on the
windshield, under the dash, or discreetly within the vehicle. The
cellular and GPS antennas are fully integrated in the device,
reducing the complexity to install. The device also features a USB
port, along with additional digital and analog inputs for easy
interfacing.
The Reporter 100 is not only the smallest of the company's
wireless communication devices. It is also the most economical,
lowering the price barrier for smaller service organizations to
realize the value and cost savings of robust fleet management
solutions. "Smaller fleets have many of the same operational
challenges of enterprise fleets. The Reporter 100 provides reliable
GPS location data that, as part of the FleetOutlook solution, lays
the groundwork for companies to reduce operational costs and boost
productivity," said Michael Jakab, vice president of Sales and
Marketing.
"We've installed many types of GPS devices, and the Reporter 100
is one of the quickest and easiest units to deploy," said Sheldon
Lambert, CEO of Bridgetown Communications, Inc. "Its small form
allows for installation either on the windshield or under a
dashboard without any drilling. It can be installed in less than 15
minutes, getting vehicles back on the roads in record time."
The Reporter 100 is fully integrated with Wireless Matrix's
FleetOutlook solution suite, which combines real-time vehicle
mapping, reporting, alerting and data integration with outage
management and in-cab navigation products. FleetOutlook puts
easy-to-use tools in the hands of dispatch and operations personnel
tasked with maximizing service levels and overall fleet
efficiency.
"The Reporter 100 opens up a host of new growth opportunities
for Wireless Matrix," said J. Richard Carlson, president and CEO of
Wireless Matrix. "Its size, its features, the speed with which it
can be deployed and the rapid return on investment now put
high-value vehicle management capabilities within reach of every
fleet operator."
