BNT Blue Note Mining Inc.

MONTREAL, Aug. 25, 2011 /CNW/ -- MONTREAL, Aug. 25, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Blue Note Mining Inc. (TSXV: BNT) ("Blue Note" or the "Company") is pleased to report results from a recently completed diamond drill program on its wholly-owned Chimo and Nova gold properties located approximately 50 km east of Val-d'Or, Quebec. The program, comprising eight holes, was carried out on three areas in close proximity to the historic Chimo mine. Six holes were drilled in the "Dyke Zone" area located on the Nova Property and immediately southwest of the Chimo mine site with grades up to 8.91 g/t gold over 1.0 meter (240.0-241.0 m) in CH-11-07. These holes (CH-11-05, -07, -08, -09, -10, -12A) intersected 14 mineralized intervals at shallow depth above 120 meters indicating favourable open pit potential. Hole CH-11-09 intersected 14.6 meters (25.9-40.5 m) grading 1.31 g/t gold. Mineralized zones within the felsic dyke included 1.15 g/t gold over 1.5 meters, 0.79 g/t gold over 11.5 meters, 1.66 g/t gold over 1.3 meters and 1.22 g/t gold over 3.0 meters.  Drilling in the Dyke Zone area was carried out over a strike length of approximately 350 meters. Hole CH-11-06 was drilled on the Chimo mining lease to test Zone 2 West located immediately north of the historic mine workings and hole CH-11-11 was collared on the Nova Property and located east of the Chimo mine. The Company is proceeding with a comprehensive compilation and digitalization of the historical and current data which will provide a clear and complete assessment of the Chimo and Nova properties and will lead to the next work program. Chimo is a past producer whereas Chimo Gold Mines Inc. extracted 140,000 tonnes at 14.8 grams of gold per tonne from 1966 to 1984. Louvem Mines Inc. exploited the Chimo mine between 1984 and 1988 extracting a total of 493,000 tonnes at an average grade of 5.69 grams gold per tonne. From 1989 to 1996 and following infrastructure rehabilitation and the sinking of a shaft to 930 meters, Cambior mined 1,692,000 tonnes at a grade of 3.83 grams of gold per tonne. The drill program was carried out by Forages La Virole and was supervised by InnovExplo personnel under Carl Pelletier P.Geo., a qualified and independent person as defined under NI 43-101 guidelines. Gold values were determined by fire assay and AAS, or fire assay and gravimetric analyses if over 3 g/t, at the ALS Laboratory Group, Minerals Division laboratory in Val d'Or.
