FRANKFURT--German prosecutors said Monday they have filed
additional charges against two former executives of Porsche
Automobil Holding SE (POAHY) in the long-lasting dispute over their
role in the company's failed attempt to take over Volkswagen AG
(VLKAY) in 2008.
Prosecutors in Stuttgart, where Porsche is headquartered, said
they accuse former chief executive Wendelin Wiedeking and
then-finance chief Holger Haerter of misleading investors in a
press release in October 2008--at the time of Porsche's takeover
attempt.
A spokesman for the regional court in Stuttgart confirmed
receiving the claim.
Lawyers of both former executives in a joint statement called
the new charges "obviously constructed, factually incorrect and
unfounded," adding they won't withstand court scrutiny.
Mr. Wiedeking and Mr. Haerter already face trial starting at the
end of July over alleged market manipulation related to the 2008
takeover attempt, based on court proceedings initiated earlier. The
lawyers for Mr. Wiedeking and Mr. Haerter have repeatedly
reiterated that the allegations are unfounded.
