Micron Technology Inc. (MU) and Nanya Technology Corp. (2408.TW) said Thursday they have decided not to cooperate with Taiwan Memory Co. and will instead pursue closer ties with one other.

Speaking at a news conference, Micron Associate Manager Fred Fishburn said Micron will pursue closer ties with Nanya and their joint venture, Inotera Memories Inc., in technology development.

The companies didn't elaborate on the reason why they won't cooperate with Taiwan Memory, a new chip company being established in Taiwan with government funds.

But earlier this month, Taiwan Memory picked Japan's Elpida Memory Inc. as its technology partner and said it would also look to cooperate with Micron.
