Corning Technologies Taiwan Co.'s liquid-crystal-display glass-making plant in Taichung had a power outage over the weekend, the company said Monday.

"There were no injuries. We are currently assessing the impact that the power outage will have on glass-making operations," Alan T. Eusden, president of Corning Technologies Taiwan, said in a statement.

Corning Technologies Taiwan is a unit of Corning Inc. (GLW). Its customers include some of the island's largest flat-panel makers, such as AU Optronics Corp. (2409.TW) and Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp. (3009.TW).

"We have a team of experts working on this and we will provide an update when more information is available," the statement said.

Corning's Taichung factory is one of the world's largest LCD glass-making plants, according to the company's Web site.

The company declined to provide details.
