NN Group NV said Tuesday that it has received European Commission approval to buy MetLife Inc.'s businesses in Poland and Greece, as announced in July.

The Dutch insurance and asset-management company said it is still waiting for approval from the Polish and Greek regulatory authorities and expects both acquisitions to complete in the first half of next year.

NN Group said on July 5 that it was buying MetLife's businesses in Poland and Greece for a total of 584 million euros ($659.1 million).

It said at the time that the acquisitions will almost double its existing customer base in Poland and Greece, and it expects to welcome around 2.7 million new customers.
