The Quality Master Award is based on year-long evaluations of Nissan's suppliers by the company's engineering, manufacturing, product quality, production control and purchasing divisions. Only suppliers that have achieved a high level rating by each function can succeed in achieving this recognition. Hayes Lemmerz was also named a 2008 Nissan Zero Defects Award winner. The Zero Defects Award is presented to suppliers that ship fewer than three defective parts per million in a year's time.
