Plug Power's GenSys Product Meets California's New Emissions
Requirement LATHAM, N.Y., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Plug
Power Inc. (NASDAQ:PLUG), a leader in the development of proton
exchange membrane fuel cell systems, announced today that the
Company's GenSys(TM)5C fuel cell system has been certified by the
California Air Resources Board as meeting the 2007 distributed
generation emission standards requirement. (Logo:

the Air Resources Board adopted regulations pursuant to the
California Health and Safety Code to establish a statewide
Distributed Generation Certification Program to certify electrical
generation technologies that are exempt from local air pollution
control district permitting. "The California Air Resources Board is
the leading air quality management agency in the country," said

certification validates the GenSys(TM)5C fuel cell system at the
most stringent of the Board's certification levels, attesting to

GenSys(TM)5C The GenSys(TM)5C, is capable of generating 5kW of
electricity and 9kW of heat. GenSys 5C was the first industry fuel
cell system to be certified under California Energy Commission's
Rule 21 grid interconnection standard which streamlines otherwise
complicated interconnection, operating and metering regulations and
processes applicable to distributed energy generators. The GenSys
5C was evaluated and certified by CSA International (CSA) and is
certified as compliant with the American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) standard for fuel cell power plants. The power
conversion system was evaluated by the Underwriters Laboratories
Inc. (UL) and is listed as compliant with the standard for
Inverters, Converters and Controllers for use in independent power
systems. GenSys 5C conforms to the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) standards for Electromagnetic Compliance (EMC).
Ten GenSys(TM)5C fuel cell systems are currently operational in San
Diego and Los Angeles. Five additional systems are currently being
