Discover Financial Services (NYSE: DFS) has been named as one of
Computerworld magazine’s “100 Best Places to Work in Information
Technology” for 2011. Discover ranked 35, marking the ninth
consecutive year the company has been named to the list.
“Our IT employees maintain a close partnership with the business
as we work together to drive results and deliver value directly to
our customers,” said Glenn Schneider, senior vice president and
chief information officer at Discover. “Being honored with this
award consecutively for so many years reinforces our commitment to
retaining and attracting top talent that thrives in a collaborative
environment focused on providing a rewarding experience for
consumers.”
Computerworld’s annual “100 Best Places to Work in Information
Technology” list honors organizations that offer their IT staffs
the best benefits, competitive salaries, opportunities for training
and advancement, interesting project work and a flexible and
diverse work environment.
"To be among the Best Places to Work in IT, it's not enough to
seek out and hire the most talented IT professionals, offer them
competitive pay and provide great benefits," said Scot Finnie,
editor in chief of Computerworld. "Smart IT people realize that
they need to get up to speed on their employer's revenue
opportunities. The organizations that made this year's Best Places
to Work list are creating a work environment that both trains and
encourages IT personnel to pursue business-driven priorities."
To be considered for the award, each applicant must have a
minimum of 50 IT employees, with at least half of the IT staff
based in the U.S., and must submit an extensive survey. Survey
questions include information on company benefits, diversity,
professional development, succession and retention.
