Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) will demonstrate its leadership position in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) applications in a variety of ways at the 2005 FTTH Conference, Oct. 3-6 in Las Vegas. In its interactive exhibit (booth #305), Corning will feature its products in a literal representation of an entire access network, all the way to the customer premises. The exhibit will contain a fiber-to-the-home model for both single-family and multi-dwelling units in which customers will be able to see exactly where the various Corning products fit into their network. Products from Corning Cable Systems Evolant(R) Solutions for Access Networks will be "deployed" in the exhibit. Through its Evolant Solutions for Access Networks, Corning Cable Systems offers specialized portfolios of innovative products and services that enable customers to cost-effectively deploy fiber in the last mile. Featured products in the Corning booth include: -- FlexNAP(TM) Terminal Distribution System - Dramatically reducing installation time and total cost of deployment, the FlexNAP System consists of standard fiber optic cables upon which network access points are pre-terminated at customer-specified locations along the length of the cable. -- OptiTect(TM) Premier Cabinet - This new reduced-size cabinet provides everything necessary to distribute up to 432 distribution fibers for an outside plant FTTx application. -- OptiSheath(TM) Advantage Terminal - This terminal provides environmental protection and quick incremental connection of subscribers' drop cable to increase deployment velocity. The use of OptiFit(R) Advantage Drop Cable Assemblies eliminates the need to open terminal when adding subscribers. -- OptiWay(TM) Advantage Network Interface Device - The first all-plastic enclosure specifically designed to house electronic circuits for the growing fiber-to-the-home and broadband access markets. The Evolant(R) Solution also contains Corning(R) NexCor(R) fiber, an SMF-28e(R) innovation, with industry-leading attributes that address the unique needs of FTTx networks, while maintaining total backward compatibility with legacy standard single-mode fibers. Corning Cable Systems will also be displaying one of its Access Product Display Vehicles at the Conference. The vehicle is outfitted with a representation of Corning Cable Systems' complete access solution, bringing the optical access network directly to the customer. The Access Product Display Vehicle will be located in booth #1053. Additionally, Corning will be presenting on a variety of topics at the Conference. -- "Global FTTH Risks and Rewards," presented by Robert Whitman, Oct. 4 at 10:45 a.m. -- "Making Cents of it All: Costs/Key Drivers for Profitable FTTH," presented by Patrick Garvey, Oct. 4 at 10:45 a.m. -- "Everything's Bigger in Texas, Including the Broadband," presented by Andrew Woodfin, Oct. 6 at 9:00 a.m. -- "Fiber to the MDU," presented by David Meis, Oct. 5 at 3:00 p.m. (poster session) -- "Optical Signal Splitters Have a Home in the FTTH Profit-Maximizing Model," presented by Mark Turner, Oct. 4 at 5:00 p.m. (poster session) -- "Access Makes the Parts Grow Stronger," presented by Andrew Woodfin, Oct. 4 at 2:00 p.m. (poster session) About Corning Incorporated Corning Incorporated (www.corning.com) is a diversified technology company that concentrates its efforts on high-impact growth opportunities.
