Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced today a $25,000 cash
donation to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International, becoming an
official corporate partner. The donation will support the
organization’s ongoing efforts to conserve and protect gorillas and
their habitats in Africa.
“We are very excited to give back to the animals that inspired
our tough, yet beautiful Corning® Gorilla® Glass,”
said Daniel F. Collins, Corning’s division vice president of
Corporate Communications. “The Fossey Fund is an incredible
organization that makes a remarkable difference in gorilla
conservation. With a similar spirit and dedication toward research
and action, it was also an organization that naturally aligned with
Corning’s longstanding values.”
For more than 30 years, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund
International has committed itself to the conservation and
protection of gorillas. The organization has programs throughout
Africa that help gorillas through rescue, rehabilitation, and
tracking and anti-poaching patrols. The Fossey Fund also
collaborates with other organizations internationally in support of
habitat reserves, research, and education.
“Corning's contribution will be very beneficial to our gorilla
conservation efforts in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of
Congo. In these areas, gorilla poaching, loss of habitat, and
disease are all too common. This contribution and others like it
ensure our conservation programs remain strong. We are thrilled to
have a great organization like Corning partner with us,” said Clare
Richardson, CEO of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International.
“Corning’s contribution will be very beneficial to our conservation
efforts of gorillas.”
