CALGARY, Nov. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - Canadian Pacific
(CP) and Breakfast Club of Canada
are teaming up to brighten the future of Canadian children with the
15th year of the 'train of lights'.
As the CP Holiday Train travels through Canada between November
25 and December 19, 2013, CP will match all online donations
made to Breakfast Club of Canada
on www.breakfastclubcanada.org.
"With this match program Canadian Pacific is acknowledging the
immense impact Breakfast Club of Canada has as an advocate of children's
development and academic success," said E.
Hunter Harrison, CP chief executive officer. "Both our
organizations seek to raise further awareness for the millions of
Canadians who rely on food assistance each day."
"Breaking the cycle of poverty and making a better world for
children is a dream that we work towards everyday at the Club, said
Daniel Germain, President and
Founder of Breakfast Club of Canada. 'We're proud to work with partners
like Canadian Pacific, who are instrumental in helping every
student start their school day with an equal chance to
succeed'.
In May, 2013, Canadian Pacific donated $100,000 to Breakfast Club of Canada to open 16 new breakfast programs and
support the existing ones in Toronto schools. Across the country, the Club
reaches over 130,000 children every school morning.
People wishing to donate must to go online to
www.breakfastclubcanada.org to be eligible for the CP match
dollar-for-dollar. This matching program is above and beyond the
donations CP makes annually to community food banks at each of its
Holiday Train events.
The annual CP Holiday Train has become part of the social fabric
of many Canadian communities and an important fundraiser to ensure
food security. Musicians traveling aboard the trains play free
concerts from a boxcar converted to a stage. All food and money
raised at Holiday Train events stays in the community.
