CALGARY, April 25, 2017 /CNW/ - Canadian Pacific Police
Service (CPPS) and students from Notre Dame Elementary School today
unveiled student artwork that highlights the importance of safety
as part of Rail Safety Week.
"Canadian Pacific is very proud of the relationship we have with
the over 1100 communities we operate in," said Bill Law, CPPS District Inspector - Ontario. "This is the second year we have
collaborated with a school in the Hamilton area to teach the rail safety message
through art and it has been very successful. We thank the teachers
and students for their participation in this project."
Each year, CP partners with Operation Lifesaver and other
stakeholders during Rail Safety Week to remind the public to be
safe, aware and vigilant around railway tracks and property. During
this Rail Safety Week, Canadian Pacific (CP) is stressing that
people stay off of railway tracks and observe all laws when driving
over railway crossings.
CP partnered with the City of
Hamilton and the school to teach children about rail safety
through art. As a learning and beautification project, Grade 6/7
students from Notre Dame Elementary School painted rail and
community safety themed artwork which will be hung on the fence
line of LifeSaver Park on Sanford Avenue S in June.
From April 24 through April 30, CP
and CPPS will conduct rail safety blitzes in communities across our
network – from Montreal to
Vancouver – with participation
from other police agencies and schools to educate motorists,
pedestrians and the general public about the role we each play in
staying safe.
"I would like to thank CP for choosing école Notre-Dame to inform the public of the importance
of the safety around train tracks," said Pascale Salloum, Principal of Notre Dame
Elementary School. "The students have shown great artistic talent
in illustrating this important message."
