--Private equity firm KKR has joined the race to buy Repsol's 20% stake in Gas Natural, which is valued at approximately 4 billion euros, reports newspaper Expansion, citing unnamed sources.

--The sources say KKR has been looking at the banking market for options to finance part of the potential purchase, as has CVC Capital Partners, Expansion reports.

--According to Expansion, CVC remains the best-placed contender to win the potential sell-off.

--Repsol has previously confirmed that it received a preliminary expression of interest from CVC regarding the sale.
