The European Commission is still waiting for details of the
German aid plan for Adam Opel GmbH, the troubled unit of General
Motors Co., before it can decide whether it is in line with
European laws.
"Until the German authorities have decided how much money they
are going to give and how they are going to give it and tell us
about it we can't begin to analyze the final package," said
Jonathan Todd, the commission's competition spokesman.
The commission has received "voluminous" answers to its previous
questions as to how a consortium led by Austrian-Canadian auto
parts maker Magna International Inc. (MGA) was chosen as the buyer
of the car maker, and is now studying those, Todd added.
