                 Dotterel Limited ("Dotterel") Declares Offer                 
                      for CALA plc ("CALA")Unconditional                      
          

The Board of Dotterel announce that they have now purchased 2,752,643 CALA
shares owned by Miller who have indicated that they do not now intend to
proceed with their offer for CALA.  Dotterel has now purchased a total of
21,965,749 shares.  Taken together with the 1,839,374 CALA shares in respect
of which the Executive Directors and certain members of the CALA management
team have given irrevocable acceptances to accept the final offer and the
1,318,330 CALA shares to be exchanged for shares in Dotterel pursuant to share
exchange arrangements and the 313,461 CALA shares held by persons deemed to be
acting in concert with Dotterel, Dotterel now owns or controls 25,436,914 CALA
shares representing 52.82 per cent of CALA's share capital.

Dotterel's Final Offer is therefore unconditional in all respects.

Dotterel is seeking the recommendation of CALA's Independent Directors to its
Final Offer and intends to send its Offer document and form of acceptance to
shareholders within the next few days.

Commenting, Geoff Ball, chairman of Dotterel, said:

"We are delighted that Dotterel now has over 50% of CALA and that we have
therefore been able to declare our Final Offer unconditional.

I would like to express my thanks to CALA's shareholders for their
overwhelming support and to thank Miller for the honourable action they have
taken in withdrawing and selling us their shares.  Now that our offer is
unconditional we would like to bring this matter to a swift conclusion and get
back to focusing on the business".
