Third Annual Salary Survey Reveals High Employee Morale in the West

According to findings from Lab Manager Magazine's third annual
salary survey, employee morale has generally remained high in the
West despite the state of the current economy. This is the first
year that Kelly Scientific Resources, a specialty service of Kelly
Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: KELYA) (NASDAQ: KELYB), has sponsored the
survey with Lab Manager Magazine.
The survey revealed that a majority of respondents in the West
are generally pleased with both their current positions and the
positive impacts they have on others.
Not only are respondents satisfied with the value of their
positions, but they also tend to feel valued within their current
organizations. Seventy-nine percent of survey respondents believe
they are valued by their management teams. In the meantime, 76
percent of the survey respondents feel that their current positions
are secure.
Also, while most respondents wish their organizations provided
them with more opportunities to advance to other positions, a
majority still think that their career goals are being advanced
through their current jobs.
Survey respondents from the West are not only satisfied with
their current positions and the value that they provide to
organizations and society as a whole, but are also typically
earning higher salaries than respondents in other regions. Even
though the recession has impacted all regions of the country,
science professionals in the West still tend to earn high incomes
and remain confident with their current positions and tasks within
the science industry.
Harvey Yau, science product manager with Kelly Scientific
Resources, thinks that Western respondents are truly passionate
about their careers and the science industry in general.
"Employees are generally satisfied and valued within their
organizations because they are committed to using their past work
experiences and educations in a positive manner," said Yau. "As
employees continually focus on the impact their work has on
society, they will be satisfied with their positions in spite of
the future challenges of the economy."
