Equitable, a leading financial services organization and
principal franchise of Equitable Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: EQH), is
proud to announce that Equitable President Nick Lane will be
honored with the 2025 Commandant’s Leadership Award by the Marine
Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation (MC-LEF) during its 28th Annual
Semper Fidelis Gala, scheduled in New York City on April 3,
2025.
The MC-LEF was established in 1995 with a mission to provide
educational scholarships and humanitarian aid to children of
active-duty U.S. Marines and Navy Corpsmen assigned to the Marine
Corps, as well as Federal Law Enforcement Agents who have made the
ultimate sacrifice. To date, the organization has awarded $93
million in scholarships, supporting more than 5,000 children.
The Commandant’s Leadership Award is a prestigious honor,
awarded by the MC-LEF to recognize individuals who exemplify
outstanding leadership qualities and who have made significant
contributions to support the Marine Corps community. The list of
previous winners is a distinguished group, including Stephen M.
Ross, an American real estate developer, philanthropist and owner
of the Miami Dolphins, known for founding Related Companies, a
global real estate firm; George Shultz, a distinguished American
economist, diplomat and public servant who held several key
government positions, including U.S. Secretary of State; and
General Peter Pace, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.), who served as the
16th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the first Marine to
hold this position.
“I am deeply humbled and honored to receive this recognition on
behalf of the brave men and women with whom I have served, from an
organization with an extraordinary mission,” said Lane. “The U.S.
Marine Corps taught me the power of the human spirit and the values
of honor, commitment and giving back. I am passionate about the
life-changing work that MC-LEF does every day to provide
educational opportunities for the children of America’s fallen
heroes.”
Lane currently serves as the President of Equitable, leading the
company’s Retirement, Wealth Management and Protection Solutions
businesses, along with its Marketing functions. Lane has held many
leadership roles in his nearly 20-year career with the company. His
contributions have strengthened Equitable's position in the
retirement industry and fostered a more secure and innovative
environment for retirees.
Lane also serves on the Board of Directors for
AllianceBernstein. Additionally, he has held leadership roles with
key professional organizations to advocate for increased access to
retirement solutions for all Americans. He currently serves on the
Board of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), and
previously served as the Chairman of the Insured Retirement
Institute (IRI) and Director at the Life Insurance Marketing and
Research Association (LIMRA).
Before joining the private sector, Lane served in the United
States Marine Corps as an infantry platoon commander. He received
an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from
Princeton University.
“It’s a privilege for our Foundation to honor Nick Lane for his
exceptional leadership qualities this year,” said John Keenan,
President of the MC-LEF. “Through his service to our country and
his leadership in the private sector, helping Americans to build a
secure and dignified retirement, Nick embodies what it means to be
a servant leader. Anchored in purpose, he lives the core values of
the Marines: Honor, Courage and Commitment. We salute Nick for his
passion in serving our military families and supporting MC-LEF’s
mission to make the world a better place for children through
education.”
MC-LEF currently provides a $40,000 scholarship account for
every child who loses a parent serving in the U.S. Marine Corps or
a Federal Law Enforcement Agency. Its mission has grown to include
humanitarian aid for Marines, Corpsmen and Federal Law Enforcement
Agents, including financial assistance for mentally or physically
disabled children of active-duty Marines. Additionally, MC-LEF has
extended support to the children of other military personnel lost
in terrorist attacks.
“There is nothing more rewarding than helping others, especially
the families who stand on the front lines to protect our freedom,”
added Lane. “At Equitable, a Purple Heart Company, we remain
committed to supporting the military community, including annual
volunteerism and employee engagement with organizations such as
Honor Flight Syracuse, Wreaths Across America and Veteran’s Bridge
Home, as we honor and serve military veterans.”
Lane will be honored with the 2025 Commandant’s Leadership Award
at the 28th Annual Semper Fidelis Gala, which will take place on
April 3, 2025, at Cipriani Wall Street® in New York City. The event
is dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of the U.S. Marine
Corps and Federal Law Enforcement, as well as raising crucial funds
to support MC-LEF’s mission. In addition to recognizing Lane, the
Honorable Gordon England, former Secretary of the Navy and Deputy
Secretary of Defense, will be honored with the 2025 Globe &
Anchor Award. The MC-LEF will welcome several distinguished
military leaders and Medal of Honor recipients at the event.
