Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced the recipients of its first annual MUNIS Public Sector Excellence Awards. The 2008 winners are Portage County, Ohio, the City of Durham, North Carolina, and Washington Elementary School of Glendale, Arizona. The Public Sector Excellence Awards program, which is open to all Tyler clients using the MUNIS financial management solution, was created to identify and honor organizations that have demonstrated excellence in best practices for developing, deploying and maintaining Tylers MUNIS solution in innovative ways. Through the award, Tyler aims to recognize and reward end users for their achievements in an industry known for its challenging pace. Tyler clients were invited to submit entries for the Excellence Awards, which included sharing how Tylers applications have provided high-impact value either by Return on Effort (ROE) or Return on Investment (ROI) within the organization. A panel of six Advisory Board Judgesall professional colleagues with extensive public sector and MUNIS product experienceevaluated submissions. The judges chose winners based on the following criteria: Creating a unique change process using a Tyler application from which other agencies can learn Recognizing significant savings after implementing a Tyler product Increasing staff productivity following implementation of a Tyler product Empowering employees, citizens or vendors with Tylers self-service modules The panel categorized award recipients based on organizational efficiency, responsiveness and productivity. By recognizing and honoring these innovative implementations through the Public Sector Excellence Awards program, Tyler hopes to provide a platform that will foster the sharing of information and ultimately the advancement of our clients, stated Skip Welch, vice president of product marketing for Tylers MUNIS Financial Management Solutions. A Tyler client since 2003, Portage County, Ohio increased its efficiency by allowing more transactions to flow electronically within the MUNIS system rather than through separate manual systems. The County currently addresses all of the Ohio-specific reporting and accounting requirements and processes within Tylers financial management system. Additionally, a chief ROI for Portage County is the improved cooperation, communication, consolidation, and integration that now occur between all County offices and elected officials from its use of Tylers system. The City of Durham, North Carolina, which purchased Tylers MUNIS solution in 2005, automated workflow for the Purchasing and Human Resources functions. As a result, Durham realized significant savings in personnel time, delayed actions, cutting of payroll checks, and visibility into ongoing activities. All 26 of the Citys departments are involved with workflow for the Purchasing and Human Resource Management applications. Durham used additional Tyler products, the Scheduler and Tyler Forms, for its purchase order printing and distribution, further enhancing productivity levels. The payroll department at Washington Elementary School uses built-in Employee Import programs in Tylers MUNIS Payroll/Human Resources Management module to facilitate the loading of additions and changes. Consequently, the School has reduced input errors and increased the payroll staffs availability for other tasks. Moreover, Washington Elementary can now accept extremely late entries and post them in time for the next pay cycle. Washington Elementary School invested in Tylers financial management solution in 2005. All three Excellence Award winners will be honored at the Tyler Connect 2008 User Conference in October, where they will have an opportunity to share their best practices and lessons learned with their public sector peers. Winners will also receive an expense paid trip for one to the conference. Tyler is pleased to recognize Portage County, the City of Durham and Washington Elementary School for their achievements. We are honored to witness the success of these clients, learn from their innovative uses of our products and provide them an opportunity to share their expertise with their peers, commented Richard Peterson, Jr., president of Tylers MUNIS Financial Management Solutions.
