Tyler Technologies, Inc., (NYSE: TYL) has signed contracts with
two Connecticut school districts—Hamden Public Schools and Ansonia
Public Schools—to provide Tyler SIS, a student information system
that is a key component of Tyler School Solutions. The districts
are the first schools in the state to invest in Tyler SIS. The
contracts include software licenses, professional services,
maintenance, and support.
“Tracking and improving attendance is one of our Board of
Education goals, and Tyler SIS will allow us several improvements
for teachers, staff and parents to better track and monitor period
and daily attendance,” said Robert Callahan, Hamden’s director of
information technology. “Also, the flexibility of the system to
adapt to the district’s needs rather than the capacities or
limitations of the system was another significant contributor in
our decision. Overall, the single biggest factor for choosing Tyler
SIS was the extensive collaborative review and unanimous acceptance
of the solution as a best fit by our stakeholder team.”
Hamden Public Schools currently serves 6,200 students in
pre-school to 12th grade, and for the past ten years has used
Tyler’s Munis® solution for its financial and human capital
management software. Under the agreement, Tyler will host Tyler SIS
in its data center for Hamden Public Schools.
Callahan went on to state that from a total cost of ownership
standpoint, hosting the system offsite means they will not have to
worry about buying and supporting new server hardware or operating
systems, which allows Hamden to focus on using Tyler SIS to enhance
the effectiveness of their school district while Tyler manages the
hardware, software and updates to the application.
Ansonia Public Schools educates 2,700 students in four schools.
They purchased Tyler SIS through a standard licensing
agreement.
“Our view of school districts as an integrated enterprise
results in a solution that effectively meets the needs and
requirements of administrators, teachers, parents, and students in
total,” said Chris Hepburn, president of Tyler's School Division.
“Ultimately, the goal of everything we do is about helping students
achieve. Our commitment toward this goal and the success of the
clients we serve allows us to continually expand into new markets,
and we look forward to our working partnership with Hamden and
Ansonia Public Schools.”
