Tyler Technologies (NYSE: TYL) has reached an agreement with the
state of Nebraska to provide Tyler’s Orion property assessment
software solution. The contract is valued at $2.3 million and
includes software licenses, support and maintenance for the
counties of Dakota, Dodge, Garfield, Greeley, Harlan, Hitchcock,
Keith, and Saunders.
Five years ago, the Property Assessment Division of the Nebraska
Department of Revenue started the bid process for a new
computer-assisted mass appraisal (CAMA) software system that was
robust, configurable and could meet the needs of all eight
counties. Tyler Technologies was chosen after receiving the most
points in the competitive bid process.
“Tyler’s Orion solution offers the most functionality, such as
parcel searching via the Internet, for a reasonable cost,” said
Property Tax Administrator Ruth Sorensen. “Orion will help the
state manage multiple requirements and wants of the counties while
delivering advanced functionality and simplifying tasks. This
partnership will benefit the counties contracting through the state
for the system since the state will provide the software and system
backups, as well as host the server.”
Tyler’s Orion Appraisal solution is a browser-based application
that allows users to quickly and easily track, modify and add
detailed property and party information through two comprehensive
record types. Orion is designed to streamline repetitive tasks,
maximize efficiencies and organize complex data into useful
information that is configurable to the needs of appraisal
offices.
“Nebraska is one of a growing number of states looking for
greater efficiencies by serving multiple jurisdictions with a
single solution, and we are delighted to provide the solution,”
said Andrew D. Teed, president of Tyler’s Appraisal & Tax
Division. “Orion is positioned to serve appraisal, tax and
collections offices of all sizes, bringing new technology and
functionality to clients. We value the relationships we’ve
developed together with our clients, and we look forward to
building a similar relationship with the state of Nebraska.”
