Second-largest court system in California chooses Odyssey to replace legacy case management system

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced that the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego, has selected Tyler’s Odyssey® court case management software system to modernize case management processes and improve electronic access to case information for the public.

Odyssey was selected by San Diego Superior Court after a competitive review designed to find a modern, automated system to efficiently and effectively deliver high-quality case management capabilities for multiple case types, including criminal, traffic, family, juvenile and probate.

The contract between Tyler and the San Diego Superior Court is valued at approximately $7 million and includes software licenses, professional services and maintenance. The court chose core Odyssey applications, including case management, public access, enterprise document management and financial management. To date, 18 California superior courts have announced that they have chosen Tyler’s Odyssey court management solution.

San Diego Superior Court used the state’s Master Services Agreement (MSA) that gives California’s 58 superior courts the ability to purchase Tyler’s Odyssey integrated court case management system at pre-negotiated terms, conditions and pricing outlined in the MSA. The MSA was developed by a group of IT leaders and court managers within the California judicial system as a way for the state’s superior courts to efficiently purchase a case management system.

“We are incredibly honored to partner with the San Diego Superior Court on this most important project to improve court operations and service to the public through technology,” said Bruce Graham, president of Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division. “The implementation of Odyssey will enable the court to facilitate the implementation of best practices and assist the court in enhancing services to better serve their constituents. We look forward to a long partnership with the San Diego Superior Court.”

San Diego is the fifth most populous county in the U.S. and the second most populous in California. The San Diego Superior Court serves more than 3 million people in nine court facilities, and has 131 judges, 23 commissioners and 1,250 employees.

In total, Odyssey has been selected for use by more than 500 counties in 21 states, serving more than 75 million residents. Odyssey has been successfully deployed statewide in Indiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota; statewide implementations in Idaho, Maryland, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington are currently under-way.
