New partnership will allow school districts to order IC Bus vehicles with dealer-installed Tyler Telematic GPS, helping districts improve vehicle uptime and save money

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) is partnering with IC Bus™, a provider of K-12 transportation vehicles and a subsidiary of Navistar International Corporation (NYSE: NAV) to provide telematics products and services. The new relationship means school districts and bus contractors ordering IC Bus vehicles can choose to have the Tyler Telematic GPS™ system dealer-installed, saving the expense and inconvenience of hiring their own installers after newly ordered vehicles are delivered.

The integration partnership is part of Navistar’s Connected Vehicle program for its IC Bus line of business. The companies will integrate key software and hardware that help school districts realize measurable ROI by receiving a complete view of vehicle, driver and engine performance data.

Through the new relationship, IC Bus dealers will install an integrated solution that combines Navistar’s OnCommand™ Connection system with Tyler Telematic GPS to deliver diagnostic-related data as easy-to-understand vehicle health reports. Tyler’s solution, which incorporates Geotab® telematic GPS hardware, provides actionable data focused on driving cost savings in four operational areas: driver training and risk management; productivity; fleet maintenance; and regulatory compliance. Tyler will also be connecting Versatrans® users with the OnCommand Connection solution.

Visibility into the operational health of a district’s school bus fleet empowers the district to better understand the severity of vehicle issues and determine the appropriate actions, which support the goal of increased vehicle uptime.

“OnCommand Connection has been an industry-leading remote diagnostic solution and we are now excited to bring this offering tailored for the school bus market to help our customers keep their buses on time and bring down maintenance costs,” said Navistar Vice President and General Manager Mike Cerilli. “Tyler is a leading K-12 technology provider and we are excited to introduce them as a partner in this market. The Tyler partnership not only allows our customers to access OnCommand Connection but also provides access to the other school solutions that Tyler offers in areas such as routing, student tracking and more.”

“We’re pleased to work with Navistar, not only because dealer-installed telematics is convenient for our clients, but because like Tyler, Navistar wants to help school districts get the most from their school bus fleet investments by keeping vehicles in service and out of the shop,” said Ted Thien, senior vice president and general manager of Tyler’s Versatrans solution. “Coupling Tyler Telematic GPS with Navistar vehicles and systems creates value for our clients. This partnership allows them to take delivery of school buses with the telematics unit already installed, helping districts to get new buses into service weeks sooner than if the districts have to install the systems themselves.”
