Legal Services Society in British Columbia
using Tyler’s Modria for parenting plans
Tyler Technologies Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced today that the
Legal Services Society (LSS) in British Columbia, Canada, has
successfully gone live with Tyler’s Modria® online dispute
resolution (ODR) solution, representing Tyler’s first Modria
installation in Canada.
LSS had previously deployed part of the Modria solution as part
of its MyLawBC guided pathways legal self-service site and dialogue
tool for separating couples to make legally binding separation
agreements. The deployment of the new MyLawBC Family Resolution
Centre on the complete Modria solution represents an expansion of
the LSS and Tyler relationship.
“As a legal aid provider, our goal has been to provide all
British Columbians, but especially those with low incomes, equal
access to justice,” said Sherry MacLennan, vice president, Public
Legal Information and Applications, Legal Services Society. “We
recognized a great opportunity to partner with the world’s leading
ODR platform, Modria, to help our clients effectively and
conveniently resolve family cases through technology. We are
excited about the benefits that it will bring to our
community.”
Tyler’s Modria solution provides British Columbians a free and
effective way to resolve some family law matters instead of having
to go through the traditional court system. LSS’s MyLawBC Family
Resolution Centre helps parents make a parenting plan that is in
the best interest of their children. Parents can create the plan
entirely online at their convenience. They also have the option to
request help from a professional, trained mediator at no cost.
Tyler’s Modria solution makes this process seamless for parents,
helping them come to a fair and agreeable resolution.
After launching their MyLawBC Family Resolution Centre, LSS
became part of Tyler’s growing worldwide Modria client base and can
now share experiences with other Modria clients in the U.S. and
around the world. Through Tyler Community, Tyler’s 24/7 information
portal for clients, LSS has already been connected to and gained
knowledge from Modria user Clark County, Nevada, which went live
with self-serve parenting plans in 2018 and shared its experience
using Modria with LSS. LSS is also collaborating with FairWay
Resolutions in New Zealand.
“We’re thrilled to establish a presence for Tyler’s Modria
solution in Canada and to bring the power of online dispute
resolution to all in British Columbia,” said Jamie Gillespie,
general manager of Tyler’s Modria solution. “Through this
installation, we can enable greater access to justice for these
residents as they develop mutually beneficial parenting plans.”
British Columbia is Canada’s westernmost province, located
between the Pacific Ocean and the Rocky Mountains. It is home to
approximately 5 million people and is Canada’s third most populous
province.
