Linde PLC said Tuesday that it signed a long-term agreement with BASF SE in France for the supply of hydrogen and steam.

The industrial-gas company said it would design, build, own and operate a new hydrogen-production facility at Chalampe, on France's eastern border with Germany.

The move would double Linde's current capacity at the Chalampe chemical park, where it already has one production facility, it said.

This second plant, expected to come onstream in the first half of 2024, will supply BASF's new hexamethylenediamine manufacturing facility at Chalampe and also help meet the increasing demand from Linde's local merchant customers for hydrogen, the company said.

No financial terms were provided.
