--Private-equity firm Bain Capital LLC is set to enter talks to buy a majority interest in Kantar--the market-research business of WPP PLC (WPP.LN)--in a deal that would value the business at around $4 billion, the Financial Times reports, citing unnamed sources .

--The British business daily said that the two companies are looking to finalize an agreement by the end of the week.

--The FTSE 100-listed advertising group said it was looking to divest itself of Kantar in October as it sought to pay down debt and simplify operations.
